Compliant with IMO Tier II and EPA Tier 2 requirements, the engine is capable of continuous low-load operation with high torque for fast acceleration, while requiring low maintenance costs owing to long service intervals and on-board maintenance.

MAN Diesel & Turbo Naval & Governmental senior sales manager Olivier Condemine said: "Sequential turbocharging improves the already proven performance and fuel-efficiency of the 28/33D engine, especially at intermediate and low-load operations known as silent running which is very important for this kind of vessel."

RTN’s first OPV built by BAE Systems, HTMS Krabi, also features MAN Diesel & Turbo’s two 16V28/33D engines.
