Andrew Magliochetti has been appointed as the new deputy assistant secretary of the US Navy for the Defence Industrial Base (DIB), according to an announcement by Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao.
In his new capacity, Magliochetti will be responsible for the strategic direction and health of the US Navy’s industrial supply chain, supporting readiness and the modernisation of the fleet.

As principal civilian adviser to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition, Magliochetti will drive initiatives aimed at revitalising the maritime industrial base, enhancing supply chain resilience, and facilitating the transition of commercial technology into active naval use.
In a 25 August release, the Navy stated that Magliochetti will also lead efforts to expand domestic manufacturing, mitigate vulnerabilities in the supply chain, and integrate commercial dual-use technologies to support naval operations.
Secretary Cao said: “To deter global adversaries and win in contested environments, our Navy-Marine Corps team must rely on a resilient industrial base.
“Magliochetti’s deep experience in venture capital and national security technology makes him the ideal leader to spearhead this effort and ensure our supply chains deliver dominant warfighting capabilities at tactical speed.”
Before joining the DIB office, Magliochetti served as Director of the Department of the Navy’s Office of Small Business Programs, where he acted as principal adviser to the Secretary of the Navy on small business matters.
He also has over 20 years of private-sector experience across structured finance, investment banking, and private equity, and most recently co-founded and managed a venture capital firm focused on national security technologies.
