The new C295, certified by the Spanish certification and military airworthiness authority INTA, is the first ASW aircraft designed and certified in Europe to enter service.
The aircraft features a comprehensive suite of sensors including search radar, digital avionics compatible with night-vision goggles, automatic identification system, acoustic system, and a magnetic anomaly detector.
The Chilean Navy placed an order for three aircraft in October 2007 to replace the ageing P-3 Orion or Bréguet Atlantic fleets.
The latest variant can be deployed to perform transport logistics, medical evacuation or surveillance missions.
