
Team Fisher has initiated the implementation of its augmented training agreement with the Royal Navy, which focuses on providing marine engineering instruction.
Led by Capita, the consortium is composed of several partners including Raytheon UK, Elbit Systems UK, Fujitsu, the University of Lincoln, and a number of smaller UK-based suppliers.
The contract expansion was announced in February 2025 and is valued at £97m ($128.8m). This will extend over a period of seven years and 11 months.
With this addition, the total value of the Royal Navy training contract now stands at approximately £1.3bn.
More than 170 new staff members have been recruited to support the provision of Marine Engineering training services at HMS Sultan. This facility serves as the base for the Royal Navy’s Marine Engineering Training Group as well as the Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School. These additional team members officially became part of Capita and Raytheon’s operations on 1 May 2025.

With this contract extension, Team Fisher is tasked with offering a range of training delivery and support services. The objective is to augment the operational effectiveness of the Royal Navy and maintain exemplary standards for training its service members.
Among the responsibilities that Capita and Raytheon UK will undertake are designing training programmes and educational materials, assuring quality across services provided, and managing equipment.

“This marks the 10th service transition managed under the Royal Navy Selborne training contract, originally awarded to Capita in 2021.
“The work we fulfil for the Royal Navy – in delivering over 80% of shore-based training and a modern and interactive teaching environment for personnel – is an example of Capita’s national preparedness capabilities.”
Since 2021, Capita has spearheaded this consortium of defence and technology firms, aiming to revolutionise shore-based training for Royal Navy personnel. The collaboration operates across 14 sites and is part of the 12-year contract.
