The Spanish Navy has launched the first of its four maritime action ships, the P41 Meteor, at San Fernando-Puerto Real shipyard in Spain.
P41 Meteor will undergo missions including protection and escort of other ships; control and override of terrorism, piracy, drug and human trafficking operations; rescue and salvage, and humanitarian and anti-pollution missions.
The 93.9m high-performance ship will carry a crew of 35 and cruise at a maximum speed of 20.5kt. The range of the 2,575t fully loaded vessel is 8,000 miles.
