The US Navy has awarded a $112.6m contract to L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace to provide support services to a total of 200 naval aircraft.

Under the contract the aviation and aerospace technical services company will provide logistics services and materials for organisational, intermediate and depot level maintenance required to support 49 T-45A and 151 T-45C aircraft.

The T-45A Goshawk aircraft is used for intermediate and advanced portions of the navy / marine corps pilot training programme for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions.

The T-45C Goshawk is an improved variant of T-45A, and is a naval carrier trainer aircraft fitted with a glass cockpit, inertial navigation and other improvements.
