The US Navy has awarded a $41.7m contract to Raytheon for the procurement of 14 Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) Pods and associated spares for the Swiss F/A-18 Programme under the Foreign Military Sales Programme.

The ATFLIR is a multi-sensor electro optical targeting pod that is used to provide navigation and targeting for military aircraft and is currently in use with the US Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
Work will be carried out in Texas and California, and is expected to be complete by February 2011.
The navy’s Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, has awarded the contract.
