The US Navy has awarded a $33.1m contract to General Dynamics subsidiary Bath Iron Works (BIW) to provide ongoing Lead Yard Services for the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyer programme.

The deal is a modification to the original contract, awarded in November 2005.

BIW has three additional ships of the same class are under construction which are scheduled to be delivered by 2011.
