General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a contract by US Naval Sea Systems Command for the production of Aegis gun and guided-missile directors and Aegis director controllers.

The MK 82 director enables the fire-control system antenna to be positioned to a commanded and stabilised position in space for illuminating a target.

The MK 200 director controller holds the solid-state servo-amplifiers, which provide signals to position the director to the desired target position.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Vermont, US, and is expected to be completed by July 2013.

The $11.1m firm-fixed-price contract is a modification to a previously awarded contract.
