The UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 3.3% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.59% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 20.47% share in November 2021, recording a decrease of 1.81% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.34% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.28% in November 2021, registering a 23.16% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 18.7% share, an increase of 21.05% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 9.76%, registering a 50% decline from October 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.91%, up 142.86% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 12.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Raytheon Technologies posted 44 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 76% over the previous month, followed by James Fisher and Sons with 36 jobs and a 9.09% growth. Blue Origin with 35 IT jobs and Thales with 34 jobs, recorded a 20.45% decline and a 41.67% growth, respectively, while The Boeing recorded a decline of 5.56% with 34 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.33%, down by 11.28% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.67% share, registered a decline of 37.88% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.6% share, down 8.82% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.41%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
