Canadian Coast Guard awarded a concept exploration contract to Vard Marine (VARD) for engineering services.

The contract will focus on the Coast Guard’s future fleet renewal program.

The contract aligns with VARD’s core competencies in tailored, fit-for-purpose, multi-mission ship design and includes parametric concept design, feasibility studies, operational analysis, system design studies, trade-off analysis and cost-modelling.

VARD was contracted to explore requirements for multiple future fleet ship types. The exploration work is expected to continue for several years.

The contract extends a long and fruitful relationship between the Canadian Coast Guard and VARD.

In the mid-1980s, VARD designed patrol and science vessels for Canadian Coast Guard.  VARD also developed the designs for the offshore oceanographic science vessel and the polar icebreaker for the organisation.
