Share

Rotary Systems is the leading designer and manufacturer of standard and customized rotary unions and electrical slip rings around the world. Based near Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rotary Systems has over 20 years of experience in the rotary union and slip ring markets. During that time Rotary Systems has provided products for the defense, radar, armored vehicles, government nuclear, and heavy equipment industries.

Current rotary union projects for the US Navy

Rotary Systems designed a lightweight rotary union with a large bore to provide cooling for various functions on the X-47B aircraft. The unmanned autonomous aircraft will serve the United States Navy and provide added surveillance for ships along with refueling purposes for small aircraft. The first aircraft of its kind, it will land and be launched under the most challenging of environments, aboard an active naval vessel.

Rotary Systems also designed a large two-passage rotary union that provides the coolant for the advance gun system aboard naval vessels. The cooling is required for the gun barrel during high-volume sustainable firing. The 11ft-long cannon is capable of firing ten shells per minute with precision accuracy at ranges up to 74 nautical miles.

Rotary unions for customized and standard solutions

Working with industries around the world, Rotary Systems offers customized solutions for specialized applications as well as modifications of standard designs. With over 1,000 unique rotating unions to date, Rotary Systems continues to grow and shape the market in the process. These unique rotary union designs offer diverse technologies such as mechanical seals, Teflon seals and hydrostatic seals, in addition to the standard single passage and multiple passage unions.

With options in size, weight, material types, and applications our rotary unions offer personalized solutions for every vision. Our rotary unions come with numerous seal and passage options utilizing materials ranging from aluminum to hastelloy with weights between 20oz to 2 tons. Our rotary unions are also available with an electrical slip ring option to transfer power, signal, or data within one complete assembly.

Electrical slip ring for customized and standard solutions

Rotary Systems established itself as an innovative leader in manufacturing when it began designing slip rings to complement its rotary union line 12 years ago. The first company to offer both products as a single source for integrated assembly, Rotary Systems quickly became an industry leader by offering personalized designs for every vision. In 2009 the demand was increasing for these devices and Rotary Systems introduced a standard line of slip rings to accommodate their size, weight, material and applications.

These standard options include sealed, capsule, packaged, and industrial slip rings along with separate parts for design. Our slip ring sizes can range from miniature slip ring capsules to large separates, along with assemblies including hundreds of circuits.
