The Russian Navy’s Severomorsk destroyer will participate in the international naval exercise FRUKUS 2009 on 22-26 June in the Northern Atlantic.

The annual exercise involves the French Tourville frigate, British York destroyer and US Klakring missile frigate.

The Udaloy-class missile destroyer is armed with anti-ship missiles, 30mm and 100mm guns, and two Ka-27 Helix helicopters.

The naval exercise is aimed at practicing interoperability in counter-piracy operations in coastal waters.

The Russian warship is scheduled to have friendly visits to the French port of Cherbourg and the Irish capital Dublin after the exercise.
