The US Navy has awarded a $136m contract to Nammo Talley Defense for the procurement of the M72A7 lightweight anti-armour weapon (LAW) system and trainers.

The M72A7 LAW is a man-portable, shoulder-launched rocket that is designed to destroy armoured vehicles and covered enemy fighting positions.

Additionally the contract has contract line item numbers (CLIN) for the purchase of M72AS LAW trainer rockets, M72AS LAW inert training rocket, M72AS trainer launchers, M72AS trainer launcher boxes, M72AS trainer-launcher cleaning kits and a CLIN to convert M72A7 LAW launcher to M72AS trainer launchers.

The work is expected to be complete by July 2014 with major work carried out in Mesa, Arizona, and the rest in Camden, Missouri and Davidsville, Pennsylvania.
