The US Navy’s MH-53E (Sea Dragon) helicopter flight simulation device 2F141 has been renovated by defence contractor Fidelity Technologies Corporation at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia.

The 2F141 is a flight simulator motion system that will allow the navy to simulate the flight environment of an airborne mine countermeasures mission as well as missions of vertical shipboard delivery and assault support.

Fidelity Technologies flight simulator programme manager Paul L Patterson said that the refurbishment of the MH-53E simulator’s motion system took six weeks to accomplish.

The company selected two subcontractors, Michigan-based Servo Kinetics Incorporated and New York-based Binghamton Simulator Company (BSC), to support the detailed project.

As part of the project work Servo Kinetics refurbished the motion actuators and mounting components while BSC managed the removal, shipping, and reinstallation of the actuators and mounting systems.

In addition, BSC performed hydraulic system hose replacement, maintenance, and the final acceptance tests for the navy.
