The US Navy has awarded a contract to Data Link Solutions (DLS) to provide Link-16 terminals to US and coalition forces.
The multifunctional information distribution system – low volume terminals (MIDS-LVTs) provide real-time data communications, situational awareness, navigation, digital voice and crypto-secured package.

By GlobalDataUnder the $20m contract, LDS will also provide radios for US platforms including the MH-60R, MH-60S and F/A-18 as well as for foreign military sales customers including Finland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan.
Additional MIDS-LVT(2/11) terminals will be supplied to the US Army, battlefield airborne communication node (BACN) and Joint Forces Command.
Work will be carried out in Wayne, New Jersey, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is expected to be complete by December 2011.
The joint venture formed by Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems received the contract from US Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
