Lockheed Martin has won a $83.3m contract to build and test the US Navy’s electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS).

The company will produce 14 engineering development models during the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the five-year contract.

eCASS is the next-generation automated test equipment for the US Navy, which intends to acquire around 340 eCASS stations.

Common Aviation Support Equipment PMA-260 programme manager captain Mike Belcher said eCASS will replace the current Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) test equipment fielded in the early 1990s.

“It’s been designed for compatibility with existing CASS hardware and will reuse CASS test programme sets for more than 1,100 weapon system units,” Belcher said.
