The US Navy’s USS Decatur (DDG 73), USS Benfold (DDG 65) and USS Stout (DDG 55) have participated in a ballistic missile defence exercise (BMDX), which was held between 23-27 August.

The BMDX is a coast-to-coast integrated exercise designed to prepare ships deployed for BMD missions.

The BMDX mission is generally carried out by Aegis cruisers and destroyers equipped with ballistic intercept missiles to shoot down opposing missiles targeting US ships and bases.

The exercise tested the ship and crew capabilities for further improving mission readiness.

Tactical Training Group Pacific (TACTRAGRUPAC) conducted the exercise by generating various testing scenarios based on missions that ships might conduct in their areas of responsibility when deployed.
