Orbit International has been awarded multiyear indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) agreements from US Navy for its mk119 gun computer system cabinet (GCSC) and mk437 gun mount control panels (GMCP).

The mk119 GCSC is an unmanned shipboard enclosure that houses a standard 19in electronics rack containing equipment that perform functions to meet the navy’s operational systems requirements.

The mk437 GMCP is a significant subsystem component that supports the naval mk160 gun computer system.

The GCSC and GMCP are used on all Aegis cruisers and destroyers, and are operationally integrated with the 5in/54 mk45 gun mount systems.

Orbit president and CEO Dennis Sunshine said the multiyear contracts were designed and funded to upgrade and modernise the US Navy fleet.

Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2011 and will continue through the third quarter of 2011.
