CTF-150 is one of three task forces operated by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), formed from a 25-nation coalition based in Bahrain.
The task force’s purpose is to create a lawful and stable maritime environment free from illegal activities across the area covering the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean and Gulf of Oman.
The Royal Australian Navy’s Commodore Gregory Sammut took over the charge from the Pakistani Navy.
Australia will lead the command for the second time, having already shared command of CTF 158 and CTF 152.
