The Royal Netherlands Navy has successfully launched the Zeeland, the second of four Holland Class vessels, at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Vlissingen, Netherlands.

The new patrol ship has been designed for international law enforcement and security missions that also include combating piracy and counter drugs operations.

The ship can accommodate a crew of 50, and is equipped with the Thales integrated mast module, radars, communication and optical sensors, remote-control systems and weapons.

The four patrol ships will replace the four M-frigates currently in service.

The navy launched two ships, the Holland and the Friesland, earlier this year and will launch the last ship, Groningen, next year.
