The company will act as the platform systems engineering agent (PSEA), and will be responsible for the design, integration and testing of the ship’s combat and seaframe control systems.
The combat and seaframe control systems are based on an open architecture computing infrastructure, known as OPEN CI.
OPEN CI provides a highly flexible information technology backbone that allows the US Navy to reconfigure the ship for changing mission requirements.
The initial contract is for one ship and will be performed through 2014, with work on the nine additional ships over the following five years.
Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, as well as in Mobile, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey and California in the US.
