Tods Defence has been awarded a contract to design and build three bow sonar domes for the new fleet of Royal Australian Navy Hobart Class air warfare destroyers.

The Hobart Class destroyer is based on the Spanish F105 design and is being developed by an alliance of Defence Material Organisation, Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) and Raytheon Australia.

The bow sonar dome enclosures are designed to house underwater warfare detection systems and sensors.

Work will be carried out in the UK to coincide with the ship build programme, which is due to enter into service from 2013-2014.
