The K-15 missile will be test fired from a pontoon, simulating the conditions of a submarine, positioned about 10m to 20m below the sea surface off the coast of Visakhapatnam, India.
The short-range missile has a range of 700km and can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads.
The missile will form part of the country’s first nuclear-powered submarine, Arihant, which is currently undergoing sea trials.
DRDO is also developing a K-4 underwater-launched missile with a range of 3,000km, according to the Hindu.
