GE Aviation has been awarded a three-year performance-based logistics (PBL) contract from the US Navy to provide repair, replacement and programme support for F414 engine components of the F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G Growler aircraft.

The $576m multiyear procurement arrangement will provide operational readiness requirements for the F414 fleet through the US Navy Fleet Readiness Center.

The company has also been allocated $58.4m to extend the F414 Fleet Support contract through June 2011 with negotiations for a multiyear deal also being discussed.

The US Navy has gained lower acquisition costs with improved readiness through the PBL contracts.

The company’s facilities in Lynn plant, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Carolina, Kentucky, US, will provide parts for the PBL contract.

The twin F414 engines power F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers and about 1,000 F414 engines have been delivered to US Navy to date.
