The US Marine Corps and The Royal Thai Marines have concluded Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2011 at Had Yao Beach in Thailand.

Nine amphibious assault vehicles from the US and six from Thailand participated in the training mission.

The allied forces conducted a combined amphibious landing from two amphibious warfare ships off the coast.

The exercise also included extensive training in jungle survival, combat marksmanship, military operations in urban terrain, combat lifesaving skills, martial arts and sniper training.

The navy and marine corps exercise force for CARAT will continue to train with the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

CARAT is a series of annual bilateral exercises held throughout south-east Asia to enhance regional cooperation, promote mutual understanding and trust, and increase operational readiness of the participating forces.
