The Indonesian Navy is in need of ten submarines to safeguard the nation’s entire marine territory, navy equipment director first admiral Susilo has announced.

“With ten submarines in our hands, we could send three of them on daily patrols in the east, central and west corners while the other three would be treated as back-up and the rest would be used as training vessels,” tempointeraktif.com has quoted the navy official as saying.

The Indonesian Government plans to purchase two submarines in a bid to create an entire squadron of submarines.

Currently, the navy has two submarines, namely the KRI Nenggala and the KRI Cakra, according to The Jakarta Post.

The KRI Cakra is undergoing maintenance and repairs while the other submarine is guarding the entire country.
