The aircraft from part of a 2010 contract signed by the Indian Government with HAL for procurement of additional 57 Hawk AJTs, according to Machinist.
Built by BAE Systems, Hawk is an advanced jet trainer aircraft and is used as either a trainer or a low-cost combat aircraft.
The two-seat aircraft has a low-mounted cantilever monoplane wing and is powered by a non-augmented turbofan engine.
The other 40 aircraft are meant for the Indian Air Force.
The delivery of these aircraft will commence in 2013 is expected to be complete by 2016.
