Integrated Surveillance and Defense (ISD) has selected UTC Aerospace Systems’ Cloud Cap Technology TASE 400 imaging payloads to support the US Navy’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) programme.

The TASE 400, which will support global combat missions, integrates an image processing system that is capable of target tracking, scene steering and electronic image stabilisation.

"The TASE 400, which will support global combat missions, integrates an image processing system."

ISD operations vice-president Steve Pierce said: "The low SWaP (size, weight and power) payload and advanced optics of the Cloud Cap TASE 400 was a critical requirement in providing the US Navy with a turnkey ISR platform."

The new system includes a GPS / INS, fibre optic gyro (FOG) stabilisation, common control and operator interface, and ViewPoint gimbal software with complete control of TASE gimbals.

The TASE 400’s mid-wave infrared camera features a continuous optical zoom to approximately 2° FOV, while its third payload bay can be configured to host a laser rangefinder and illuminator. It can also deliver better day and night surveillance imaging for fixed wing, helicopter, manned and unmanned aerial systems.

UTC Aerospace Systems Force Protection vice-president John Trezza said: "The opportunity for UTC Aerospace Systems and Integrated Surveillance and Defense to combine their advanced systems and worldwide experience in support of warfighters is something we are especially proud of."
