The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) has received its sixth NH90 series of helicopter from NHIndustries at Tessera in Italy.
The twin-engine, medium-size NH90 Nato Frigate Helicopter (NFH) is one of 14 aircraft ordered, which are being built by Finmeccanica Helicopter Division, and will be equipped with a sonar system.

The fleet will be based in Bardufoss and operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
The maritime helicopter is equipped with a range of features, including mission tactical control systems, single or dual mission consoles, multiple track scanning and auto initialisation enabled radar and ISAR, sonar equipment, storage, launch and processing system de-icing system, advanced satellite and encrypted communications, and avionics capability enhancements.
It also features a Fly-by-Wire flight control system for reduced pilot workload and enhanced flight characteristics.

The NFH variant can support an array of missions, such as anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, search-and-rescue, transport, special ops support, boarding, medical evacuation, maritime reconnaissance, and anti-piracy in all environments.

Under the next phase of programmes, six helicopters will be delivered for anti-submarine warfare and two more helicopters for coast guard operations.
Last month, NHIndustries received an order to deliver six additional NH90 helicopters in tactical troop transport (TTH) to the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA).
This contract brings the total amount of NH90 TTHs on order for the French Army Aviation to 74.
