The Italian Navy’s first FREMM multimission European frigate Carlo Bergamini has completed the scheduled first phase of sea trials.

The 139m-long Carlo Bergamini is fitted with a LM2500+G4 propulsion system, has a full load displacement capacity of 5,900t, a maximum speed of 27kt and can accommodate a crew of 145.

The frigate has also begun a second phase of sea trials, with delivery scheduled to take place in early 2012.
