During the deployment, HMAS Newcastle will travel to Japan to participate in Exercise Nichi Gou Trident with the Japanese Navy before leaving for Canada to join ships from navies across the world to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy.
After completing the task in Canada, the Adelaide Class frigate will sail to Hawaii with USS Nimitz to take part in the Exercise RIMPAC 2010 with Australian ships Sirius, Warramunga and Kanimbla.
The 138.1m-long, 14.3m-wide Adelaide Class frigate has a displacement of 4,200t, accommodation for 184 crew and a maximum cruising speed of 30kt.
