LUBUCS TTE will help the navy examine and repair current fleet submarine broadcast system (FSBS) components that are scheduled for upgrades including hardware replacement, reuse and porting of existing FSBS software and the development of new software as required.
Under the contract, the company will design and deliver the updated systems, including two engineering design models of the broadcast transmit and keying sites.
In addition, SAIC will provide programme management, systems engineering, test and evaluation, and integrated logistics support as required.
The contract has a two-year base period along with options through to 2014, which if exercised would make the value of the contract exceed $18m. Work will be carried out in San Diego, California.
The contract has been awarded by the navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR).
