The UK Royal Navy has returned home following the successful completion of the Taurus 09 deployment in the Far East.

The deployment was aimed at maintaining the navy’s fighting capability and to develop the UK’s ability to operate with key partners and allies from Nato countries and other nations. The mission also demonstrated the UK’s commitment to the stability and security of the Mediterranean, Middle East and South East Asia.

During the Taurus deployment in the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Far East the Task Group performed a wide range of activities which included maritime security operations as well as exercising amphibious and anti submarine warfare.

Around 3,300 personnel participated in the deployment, training together and building relations with 17 nations.
