The US Navy has renewed its contract with Intellicheck Mobilisa for funding the wireless security Aegeus buoy programme.

The multipurpose buoy system is equipped with environmental and security applications and can protect the US Navy from enemy threats.

The system can detect radiological dispersal devices (dirty bombs) and act as a deployable asset for providing fleet support in ports.

Currently, the US Navy has deployed seven buoys in Puget Sound and one in Potomac River.

The contract has an approximate value of $3m over a 12 to 18-month period for the system.
