The one-year $85m contract includes four additional one-year options and is part of the service’s anti-submarine warfare mission.
The surveillance towed array sensor system programme provides sustainment and logistics management for passive and active surveillance equipment and computer network systems.
Lockheed Global Training and Logistics business technical services vice-president Carey Smith said, “The anti-submarine warfare mission is of significant importance to the navy. The equipment we maintain is vital to that mission, whenever and wherever these ships may be.”
The navy’s Military Sealift Command operates the ships and their crews in conducting training and missions worldwide.
Work on the contract will be carried out at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan, the UK and US.
