Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) is planning to test new supersonic surface-to-sea missiles as part of the current Great Prophet 6 missile drills in the Persian Gulf.

IRGC Aerospace Division commander brigadier general Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the new missiles have been designed to target ships and forces at sea.

“From the middle of the week the second phase of the drills will continue with the launching of naval exercises and the use of surface-to-sea missiles,” he added.

During the first phase of the ten-day drills, the Iranian military tested Fateh (Conqueror) 110 medium-range ballistic missiles, and launched 14 surface-to-surface missiles.

Iran’s Armed Forces have also been equipped with the Ghadir radar system, which can monitor a radius of 1,100 and a height of 300km, according to Press TV.
