Nato’s biggest military exercise, the UK-led Joint Warrior, has begun in Scotland as planned amidst US and Nato air and sea missions in Libya.

The three-week-long exercise will see participation from UK, US, Dutch and Norwegian warships along with Nato air crews and ground troops.

Royal Air Force Kinloss in Moray and a live firing range at Cape Wrath will play a key role, while six US F15 jets, three Blackhawk helicopters, Falcon and Hawk jets will take part in the exercise.

Troops from the Household Calvary Regiment and the US Marine Corps are also scheduled to take part in Joint Warrior, according to BBC News.

Exercise Joint Warrior, which runs from 28 March to 15 April 2011, is a UK-wide, tri-service exercise intended to provide opportunities for training all war fighting disciplines.
