Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract with Maritime Partner, a shipbuilding firm based in Norway, for the supply of waterjets and accompanying control systems destined for seven new Danish search and rescue (SAR) vessels.
The vessels have been ordered by the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to support mission-critical maritime operations.
The waterjets provided by Kongsberg, specifically the Kamewa S50-3/CA model, are designed to offer high-speed capabilities, reduced maintenance needs, and refined control mechanisms – characteristics that align with the swift and agile nature of SAR operations.
Each SAR vessel will be outfitted with a pair of these S50-3/CA waterjets along with Kongsberg Maritime’s Jet Control System – Extended. This configuration is expected to deliver superior manoeuvrability, dependability, and operational performance under the strenuous conditions typical of rescue missions.
Kongsberg Maritime propulsion & handling executive vice-president Per Håvard Siljan Hjukse said: “This contract highlights the strength of Nordic cooperation and our shared commitment to delivering high-performance propulsion solutions for demanding operational environments.
“We are pleased to support Maritime Partner and DALO with our Kamewa waterjet technology designed for the critical demands of SAR operations.”
