Alpha Marine Services has been awarded a $70m contract for the long-term charter of one US-flagged offshore support ship, Kellie Chouest, which will support US Southern Command special missions at sea. The contracting activity is the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command, located at Norfolk, Virginia.

The Kellie Chouest is an offshore support ship capable of performing a wide range of tasks at sea. The contract work will be performed worldwide, and is expected to be completed by 30 March 2028, if all options are exercised.

The US Southern Command oversees military operations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Using the Kellie Chouest will enable the US military to perform special missions in these regions more efficiently and effectively.

The US Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) has also used the US Flagged Maritime Support Vessel, the Kellie Chouest, with the contract expected to expire in March.

In May 2019, Alpha Marine Services were awarded a US Navy $11.7m modification contract for the Kellie Chouest.
