Minister-President Lies Inaugurates New NVL Campus
• Today, Olaf Lies, Minister-President of Lower Saxony, officially inaugurated the new NVL Campus at the NVL site in Lemwerder, Lower Saxony, Germany, during a ceremonial event
• The opening took place in the presence of Andreas Bovenschulte, Mayor of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen; Christina Winkelmann, Mayor of the Municipality of Lemwerder; Stephan Siefken, District Administrator of the Wesermarsch district; Friedrich Lürßen, Managing Partner of the Lürssen Group; Tim Wagner, CEO of NVL; as well as other representatives from politics and public administration and numerous NVL employees
• Thanks to efficient construction and planning methods, the building complex – consisting of three interconnected structures – was completed in a very short construction period
• The new NVL Campus, which also includes a renovated existing building with an integrated canteen and conference rooms, provides more than 400 state-of-the-art workplaces
“With the inauguration of the NVL Campus in Lemwerder, we are sending a strong signal for innovation and future viability in Lower Saxony. The new office spaces not only create modern workplaces, but also stand for sustainability and collaboration. At the same time, this campus makes an important contribution to strengthening our security policy capabilities: technologies and systems essential for maritime defence and the protection of our alliance partners are being developed here. This investment strengthens our region as a business location and underlines the importance of the maritime industry for our security and technological expertise. Lower Saxony is taking responsibility for security in Germany and Europe and is playing an increasingly important role in this regard.
The commitment of NVL is emblematic of this. I congratulate everyone on this important step and thank all those involved for their dedication,” said Olaf Lies, who cut the ceremonial ribbon together with NVL Project Manager Chantal-Marie Mildahn.
All three buildings feature hybrid workspaces as well as meeting and project rooms. From the first floor onwards, the buildings are interconnected and terraced toward the River Weser, giving almost all workstations a view of the river. The building complex houses, among others, the Design and Procurement departments, Quality Management, and Human Resources.
“Our new campus is also a reflection of our growth over recent years, during which we have welcomed hundreds of new crew members on board. I am very pleased that we have created a space for our employees that combines a creative working atmosphere with a high level of functionality,” said Tim Wagner. “Equally impressive is the efficient implementation and the high quality of construction. Thanks to the prefabricated construction method used by the responsible construction company GOLDBECK – very similar to our sectional construction approach in shipbuilding – and the trusting cooperation between all project partners, we required only 20 months from the submission of the building application to completion and occupancy of the new building. I would like to thank everyone who
contributed to the success of this forward-looking project.”
