Navantia has organised the first Dutch industry conference in Rotterdam with 70 professionals from more than 50 different companies in attendance.
The conference took place on 27 November. During the event, Navantia has presented plans to involve local industry in the project of future submarines for the Dutch Navy, which will replace the Walrus-class.
Dutch program fits both the requirements and deadlines of Navantia’s S80 submarine program.
After several presentations, the companies had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one meetings with Navantia’s team and share experiences.
The event’s goal was to involve the local industry into the development of the project, finding the collaboration spaces that best fit into the program’s strategy.
The event has been organised taking advantage of the celebration on the 28 November of the NEDS exhibition, where Navantia was also present with a stand and an interactive submarine area.
The Spanish shipbuilder Navantia is a world reference in the design, construction and integration of state-of-the-art warships, as well as ship repairs and modernisation.
It designs and manufactures the Integrated Platform Management, Fire Control, Command and Control systems, as well as Propulsion Plants and through-life support for all of its products. Even though its main line of activity is in the naval field, Navantia designs and manufactures systems for the army and the air force.
Navantia belongs to a corporate holding Grupo SEPI, which is made up of 15 state-owned companies and employs 78,000 professionals. Navantia has a direct majority shareholding participation in the holding.
It also has a foundation and direct minority participation in nine firms and indirect participation in more than one hundred companies.
