Quickstep Holdings and French shipbuilder Dcns SA have signed a memorandum of understanding to manufacture components and assemblies for naval ships.

Headquartered in Australia, Quickstep develops advanced composite materials for aerospace / defence and automotive markets.

The US Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) has awarded a $53.43m undefinitised contract to BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair to perform repair works on the USS Russell (DDG-59) destroyer of the US Navy.

"BAE Systems will also perform maintenance and depot-level modifications to help improve capabilities of the DDG-59 destroyer."

The work under the contract is scheduled for completion in early-2017.

Exelis Inc. has received a $12.32m contract to provide engineering and technical support for the AN/ALQ-214 integrated countermeasures system, AN/ALQ-165 ASPJ jammer, and aircraft self-protection optimisation.

As part of the contract, awarded by the US Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), Exelis will also provide support services for the software improvement project until June 2021.
