Canada's Department of National Defence (DND) has awarded a $55.45m contract to Pomerleau for the demolition of the B Jetty at Her Majesty's (HM) Canadian Dockyard Esquimalt.
Pomerleau will demolish the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) existing jetty to prepare for future rebuilding work at the site in Surrey, British Columbia.

The existing A and B jetties were originally constructed to accommodate vessels that were both smaller and lighter than the currently used modern Canadian patrol frigates, and are not long or deep enough to adequately facilitate the newest fleet of ships.
Overhauling the yard's docking facilities will ensure the jetties are functionally optimal for berthing the country’s latest frigates, as well as the newly-designed ships slated to join the navy’s fleet between next year and the middle of 2040.

“The two new state-of-the-art jetties will greatly improve the ship-docking infrastructure for Canada’s naval vessels at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt.”
The A and B Jetty recapitalisation project involves a total investment of $781m at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt, and will be carried out in three phases so that at least one jetty remains operational at any point in time during construction.
