Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced the acquisition of contracts exceeding $250m to supply essential components and systems such as propulsion valves, pumps, control systems, and advanced instrumentation for vital US Navy programmes.

The contracts received from Bechtel Plant Machinery and General Dynamics Electric Boat were to facilitate ship construction, spare parts, and submarine back-fit procurements.

These contracts also show Curtiss-Wright‘s commitment to supporting critical US Naval defence projects such as the Navy’s Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, Columbia-class submarine, and Ford-class aircraft carrier initiatives. For example, Curtiss-Wright provided generators for the US Navy’s Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) programme in 2022.

These contracts reflect the collaboration between Curtiss-Wright and the US Nuclear Navy, fostering enhanced operational capabilities and bolstering national defence.

Curtiss-Wright is executing these contracts at its New York and Pennsylvania facilities within the Defense Electronics and Naval & Power Segments. The company’s engineering and manufacturing efforts are underway and projected to persist until 2028.

James Marques, aerospace, defence, & security analyst at GlobalData, claimed: “They’re involved in every nuclear-powered US warship, and they also helped develop the electromagnetic launching system used on the new Gerald Ford-class aircraft carriers to launch planes.”

Curtiss-Wright has played a role in ensuring the secure and dependable operation of nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers commissioned by the US Navy. Curtiss-Wright’s technologies, including power-dense motors and advanced valve designs, not only enhance operational efficiency but also lead to reduced manpower and costs while simultaneously bolstering safety measures.
