OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) has secured a contract from PGZ Stocznia Wojenna (PGZ SW) Shipyard to deliver Integrated Navigation and Tactical Systems (INTS) for the Polish Navy’s Kormoran programme, for vessels four to six.

For the company, this is the second contract with the Polish Navy and the third contract by PGZ SW following an earlier agreement in 2020 for the delivery of INTS to vessels two and three, as well as a WECDIS agreement for the ORP Arctowski (hydrographic vessel).

OSI president and CEO Ken Kirkpatrick said: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to continue to support the Polish Navy and equally proud of the working relationship with PGZ SW.

“Kormoran has been a very rewarding project. It has once again proven OSI’s success in a new market and further developed our footprint in Europe.”

Continuing from the earlier agreement, the latest contract will see the company provide design, build, and installation services for three INTSs for the Polish Navy’s Kormoran Class Mine Countermeasures Vessel new build programme.

Kormoran forms a part of the Polish naval modernisation programme.

Besides operating in the waters of the Polish exclusive economic zone (EEZ), Kormoran will take part in NATO’s countermeasure group in the Baltic and the North Sea.

INTS is a scalable, IMO and NATO STANAG 4564 WECDIS-compliant integrated bridge system, and delivers fleet commonality, helps to enhance crew performance and cuts down maintenance costs. 

It has secured Marine Equipment Directive (MED) type approval certification as an integrated navigation system from DNV GL.

INTS meets important industry standards, namely MSC.252 (83) and IEC 61924-2 for INS and MSC.302(87) for bridge alert management.

PGZ Stocznia Wojenna also operates as the service centre and representative for OSI in Poland.

Last month, OSI received to provide a fleet-wide licence for its Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS) to the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) and the Belgian Navy.
