AECOM Technical Services has been awarded a $91.48m firm-fixed-price with award fee task order by the US Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.
The company has secured this task order under a previously awarded multiple-award construction contract for berth repairs.

As part of the repair works, AECOM will repair the Berths 40 and 41 along with upgrading the accompanying Dry Dock 8.
Work includes repairing the structural components of Berths 40 and 41, by replacing a set of deteriorated systems including pile systems, pile caps, cast-in-place concrete systems, fender pile systems and concrete beams.
The latest contract was competitively procured through the US Government’s official System for Award Management (SAM) platform, with a total of three offers received.
This award marks a significant step in ensuring that the infrastructure required to provide service to the future naval platforms is available with the NNSY.

It is being conducted under the US Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimisation Programme (SIOP), that focuses on enhancing fleet operational availabilities at the country’s four public shipyards.
This centrally managed programme is led by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in collaboration with the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).
According to NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic, SIOP is a holistic approach for integrating infrastructure investments at four public shipyards to improve US Navy’s maintenance capabilities by expanding shipyard capacity and optimising shipyard configuration.
Besides, the upgrade and repair works will further support the NNSY’s mission to carry out maintenance on the US Navy’s Gerald R Ford-class aircraft carriers.
