National Security Innovation Network’s (NSIN) DIA shortlisted as many as eight Crane technologies from across research and development (R&D) laboratories in the US Department of Defense (DOD) for Phase I.

Powered by FedTech, NSIN DIA uses advanced technology to find solutions for the challenges faced by the DoD and other commercial customers in the real world.

The programme is currently in its second and final phase and the Demo Day is planned to take place on 3 December.

Of the eight, four teams progressed to Phase II.

NSWC Crane Technology Transfer director Jenna Dix said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Crane. The entrepreneurs participating are experienced and highly motivated and the Crane inventors of the technologies are eager to assist.”

“By participating in the DIA programme, we’re increasing the likelihood that technologies sitting on our shelves make it into the hands of the warfighter, while at the same time, supporting the US economic base by working with entrepreneurs to bring this same tech into the commercial marketplace.”

Last year, researchers at the NSWC Crane and Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic used computer science methods in the High Assurance Interface Protocols (HAIP) project to make navy systems more secure.
