Information and communications technology provider eMARINE Global has won an annual maintenance renewal contract with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy.

Under with contract, the company will continue to maintain electronic charts display and information systems (ECDIS).

The $1.9m contract will cover all ECDIS systems installed on 225 naval ships.

The maintenance contract has been renewed each year since the deployment of eMarine’s navigation technology by the ROK Navy in 2007.

In addition, the work and budget under the contract renewal have gradually risen annually.

eMarine’s ECDIS technology currently serves as the primary navigation solution on the ROK Navy fleet.

In March 2019, the company was awarded a contract to supply the warship version of its ECDIS for ten navy destroyers and ten support ships.

Launched in 2004, eMarine Global ECDIS is designed for the geographic navigation and operational command and control of ships. It is installed on 376 vessels.

In August last year, the company won a contract extension to maintain the Korean Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare Team Trainer (ASWTT).

eMARINE Global chairman and CEO Ung Gyu Kim said: “We have a remarkable record of providing excellent and professional service to our customers, and this latest renewal from the ROK Navy further strengthens that record.

“We were also recently awarded a contract renewal for the annual maintenance of the ROK Navy’s anti-submarine warfare team trainer (ASWTT), a project we helped to install and have maintained over the last three years.”
