A staff member assigned to US Second Fleet and a sailor onboard USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) have tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19).
The staff member assigned to US Second Fleet recently returned from Germany on 10 March and was self-quarantined immediately.
The member is at home in Virginia Beach and following guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
The other staff members who travelled aboard have been isolated for a 14-day period and the military unit is implementing US Department of Defense guidelines.

By GlobalDataOn 16 March, a sailor allocated to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson tested positive and is also self-isolated at their home and following CDC guidelines.
People who have been in contact with the affected individual are currently in self-isolation at their homes.
Military health professionals have launched a thorough contact investigation to determine possible exposure.
Additional precautionary measures are expected to be undertaken based on the investigation results.
The US Navy said in a statement: “Navy is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force.
“We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and local population.”
Earlier this week, the US Navy announced that two sailors stationed at Naval Base Point Loma and Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, Capodichino, have tested presumptive positive.
